Workers Compensation

WVU Medical Management files all WVURC Workers’ Compensation claims. WVURC employees who sustain job related injuries may be covered by Workers’ Compensation Insurance for wage and/or health care needs. Encova Insurance formerly Brickstreet Mutual Insurance Company is the Workers’ Compensation provider. Timely and efficient completion of claims is necessary to ensure qualified employees receive their entitled Workers’ Compensation benefits. The following are important criteria for employees to remember: 

If a work site injury/incident occurs, employees should immediately notify the supervisor and complete the WVU Employee Injury/Incident Report. All forms should be submitted within 24 hours. 

If the employee does not immediately seek medical treatment, but decides to go to the doctor at a later date, the employee must contact WVU Medical Management at (304) 293-HURT (4878).

Any time an employee seeks medical treatment for an on the job injury, a release to return to work must be provided directly to WVU Medical Management prior to returning to work.

A Workers’ Compensation claim must be filed no later than six months from the date the injury occurs. WVU encourages employees to seek prompt treatment for the best medical outcomes.
