WVU Research Corporation Human Resources / WVU Human Resources Office Consolidation

As announced in late March 2017, the HR function of the Research Corporation is being centralized to the WVU Talent and Culture, formerly the Division of Human Resources. Our goal is to integrate the HR function with no disruption in service to research corporation employees and to keep you informed of any changes in staffing.
For your convenience, below is a summary of the team that will support the research corporation human resources efforts and their office locations. At this time, there are no changes to the Research Corporation, recruitment, employee benefits plans or payroll processes.
In addition to the staff at One Waterfront Place, Jared Wood will be the on-site HR Partner leading the human resources activity for the organization. He will have the full support of the WVU central HR team and will be located in Room 310 at the Chestnut Ridge Research Building.
One Waterfront Place Offices
- Amber Conaway, Benefits and Training Coordinator, is located in the Benefits Department at One Waterfront Place under the direction of Toni Christian, the Director of Benefits Administration. Her new title will be Senior Employee Benefits Specialist and she will continue to provide employee benefits services for Research Corporation employees.
- Janice Schifano, Payroll Manager, will continue to manage the payroll processes
for the Research Corporation employees. She is now located in the payroll department
at One Waterfront Place, 3rd floor cube # 3208, under the direction of Linda
Strawser, Director Payroll and Employee Processing Services. Her new title is
Business Manager II.
- Alex Godfrey, Recruitment Specialist, is located in the Talent Strategy Department.
Under the direction of Andrea Yanego, Director, Talent Strategy, he will continue
to provide recruitment support for the Research Corporation. His new title is
Talent Acquisition Specialist.
- Breanne Kiser, Classification and Compensation Coordinator, is located at One Waterfront
Place, 2nd floor. Under the direction of Robert Richardson, Director, Compensation
Administration, Bree will continue to provide compensation support for the Research
Chestnut Ridge Research Building Location (Effective July 5)
Jared Wood has been named HR Partner for the WVU Research Office and the WVU Research Corporation, effective July 5. Wood will be the on-site HR Partner leading human resources activity for the organization. He will have the full support of the WVU central HR team. This includes the continuing support of Amber Conaway in Benefits, Alex Godfrey in Talent Strategy (Employment), and Bree Kiser in Compensation. WVU Research Corporation’s payroll will continue to be supported by Janice Schifano.
Wood has a broad based HR background including over eight years of experience in employment and employee relations. He currently serves as Senior Employee Relations Specialist for the WVU Division of Talent and Culture (HR). He obtained his Master of Science in Human Resources and Industrial Relations degree from WVU, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, also from WVU.
Wood will report to Jim Morris, Assistant Vice President for Talent and Culture at WVU and will work closely with Dr. Fred King, Vice President for Research and Alan Martin, Associate Vice President for Research Administration in meeting the strategic HR needs of the organizations.
“I am very excited to begin my new role as HR Partner for the Research organization. I look forward to working with the managers and employees to meet their human resources needs,” Wood commented on his new assignment.
This change in provider for HR in support of WVU Research will not change the status/employer of WVU Research Corporation employees nor the ability of WVU researchers to continue to use the HR services of the WVU Research Corporation for externally funded projects.
